Why Trade Shows Are a Must for Tradesmen and Equipment Buyers
When it comes to purchasing heavy equipment or staying ahead in the industry, nothing beats the experience of attending a trade show. These events allow you and your staff to gain valuable knowledge, build connections, and make informed decisions. RBG Inc. exhibits at more than a dozen trade shows each year to give customers hands-on access to our DINOlift, Dur-A-Lift, and—new for 2026—Hyrax lifts. We know these are significant investments, which is why seeing, touching, and testing the equipment is essential. Discover why attending these events is worth your time below!
1. Hands-On Experience You Can’t Get Online
We know these are significant investments, which is why seeing, touching, and testing the equipment is essential. At trade shows, you can:
- Inspect the build quality and safety features up close.
- Operate lifts to understand ease of use and performance.
- Compare multiple brands side by side in real-world conditions.
This hands-on experience eliminates guesswork and gives you confidence in your purchasing decisions. When you step into a lift and feel how it operates, you know whether it’s the right fit for your job.
The largest tree-related trade show in the U.S. is the TCIA Expo, held in alternating cities each year. Two of our partners, Dur-A-Lift and DINOlift, participate, showcasing their forestry-focused products. This year Kevin Hamm of Game of Trees (Hamm’s Arborcare) brought his newly purchased and custom-decaled DINO 92RXT to the show, giving arborists the chance to test it firsthand. The event also featured a raffle with top-tier prizes, including Milwaukee chainsaws and refurbished antique axes.

2. Direct Access to Experts
Trade shows bring manufacturers, dealers, and service providers together under one roof. Instead of relying on email or phone calls, you can:
- Ask technical questions and get immediate answers
- Learn about maintenance and service options.
- Discuss customization options, or special requirements that may be needed for your projects.
RBG Inc. proudly exhibits at numerous trade shows each year and also attends major national events to support our partners at their booths. These shows allow us to showcase our products, share expertise, and strengthen industry relationships.

3. Stay Ahead of Industry Trends
The equipment industry is constantly evolving. Trade shows showcase the latest innovations—new models, safety enhancements, and technology upgrades. Staying informed helps tradesmen and fleet managers remain competitive and compliant with regulations. Whether it’s improved safety systems or eco-friendly designs, you’ll see what’s coming before it hits the market.
Each year, RBG Inc. sends our sales team, owners, and engineers to Work Truck Week, and other events like the Utility Expo, to stay ahead of industry trends and support our partners at Dur-A-Lift in their booth. This year, Dur-A-Lift introduced their new proportional CAN bus electric controls, giving operators smoother, variable movement compared to traditional on/off operation.

4. Education and Professional Development
Many trade shows, meetings, and conferences offer classes and seminars that count toward professional credits. These sessions cover topics like safety standards, equipment operation, and regulatory compliance. Attending these classes not only sharpens your skills but also helps you maintain certifications and advance your career.
This week, our team attended the Mass Tree Wardens 2026 Annual Conference in Sturbridge, MA. We brought our fresh-off-the-line Dur-A-Lift DTAX2-44 with a Blue Ridge flatbed to display. At this type of show, the focus is on attending the many classes offered—starting with updates from the forest community, networking breaks with exhibitors, and sessions such as Municipal Pruning Oversight, Fire Ecology: Post-Forest Fire Regeneration, and the Tree Warden Roundtable: Working with Utility Companies. Then after all of the learning and fun, the day wrapped up with some door prizes and an early evening social.

5. Networking Opportunities
Trade shows create opportunities to connect with peers, suppliers, and industry leaders. These relationships can lead to partnerships, exclusive deals, and valuable insider knowledge. In fact, some shows even feature special pricing on lifts for attendees. It’s the perfect chance to share experiences, learn best practices, and expand your professional network.
Should You Attend a Trade Show?
If you’re wondering whether trade shows are worth your time, the answer is yes. These events go far beyond showcasing equipment; they provide opportunities to learn, connect, and make informed decisions. For tradesmen, equipment purchasers, and industry professionals, attending a trade show is one of the smartest investments you can make. You’ll gain hands-on experience, access expert advice, and stay ahead of industry trends.
